NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Tim Conway, a beloved actor best known for his work on “The Carol Burnett Show,” has died at the age of 85.
A representative for Conway says he passed away in Los Angeles at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday.
The actor and comedian had been dealing with complications from Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus. His representative said he had no signs of dementia or Alzheimer’s.
In his early life, Conway was a fraternity man at Bowling Green State University, served in the Army and started his comedy career working for a radio station.
He made a name for himself on the 1962 sitcom “McHale’s Navy” before beginning guest appearances on “The Carol Burnett Show.”

Conway joined the cast officially in 1975 and performed in various roles over the years, including the beloved Oldest Man and Mr. Tudball.
"I'm heartbroken. He was one in a million, not only as a brilliant comedian but as a loving human being. I cherish the times we had together both on the screen and off. He'll be in my heart forever," Carol Burnett said in a statement.
The comedian won four Emmy Awards for his work on Burnett’s program and two more for guest appearances on “Coach” and “30 Rock.”
In addition to his on-screen work, Conway was also a seasoned voice actor and leant his voice to “Spongebob Squarepants” as Barnacle Boy and was Mulch in DreamWorks’ “Dragons: Riders of Berk.”
Conway is survived by his wife of 35 years, his stepdaughter, his six biological children and two granddaughters.
