There’s no doubt many fans were not completely happy with the final season of "Game of Thrones."
But it isn’t hard to believe that everyone would have loved to have seen more action involving the direwolves."
In an interview with E! News, "Game of Thrones" director Miguel Sapochnik recently revealed a huge battle scene between 50 of the beloved four-legged animals and a dragon was left on the cutting room floor of “The Long Night” episode, aka the Battle of Winterfell.
"There were many things that happened that people would've been so happy to happen -- attacks of direwolves and crazy stuff," Sapochnik said on the Filmmaker Toolkit podcast.

The amount of CGI that would have been needed to execute the direwolves battle on top of all the labor intensive production needs of the epic 82-minute episode proved to be too much, and series creators Dave Benioff and Dan Weiss ultimately decided not to film it.
"They were completely ruthless when it came to that thing of 'No, we want this. No, we want this’ and at the same time, at some point, there were moments of realization of 'We physically can't do some of these things, and some things we can,’” Sapochnik added.
One thing that did get filmed was Cersei’s anticlimactic demise from being crushed under rocks, a plot point that even Cersei herself didn’t like.
“I will say I wanted a better death,” said actress Lena Headey of her character’s fate. “Obviously, you dream of your death. You could go in any way on that show. So I was kind of gutted.”
So were most "Game of Thrones" fans.
