'Game of Thrones' Star Lena Headey: 'I Wanted a Better Death'

The truth finally starts to come out! After what many fans considered to be a disappointing ending to “Game of Thrones,” the stars are revealing their true thoughts on how things all wrapped up.

While many have held to their opinions of the series’ beautiful finale, Lena Headey has revealed to The Guardian that things didn’t go quite how she imagined for her character.

When asked about how she felt about the series’ end, she reveals that she did, in fact, indulge the series as a viewer as well as a star. “I have my favorite characters, and I’ve got a few of my own gripes. But I haven’t sat down drunkly with David (Benioff) and Dan (Weiss) yet,” she says.

And while a chat over cocktails with the show writers would probably reveal more of Headey’s true opinions, the one she’ll own up to is her disappointment with the death of her character, Cersei.

“I will say I wanted a better death,” she reveals. “Obviously, you dream of your death. You could go in any way on that show. So I was kind of gutted.”

Cersei’s demise came when she found herself seeking refuge in the basement of her castle, only to be crushed to death by the crumbling building alongside her brother and lover, Jaime.

But despite how each actor felt about their respective characters’ final moments, they all share the same gratitude for being a part of something so life-changing. “We’re all on a giant WhatsApp group which is a daily pile-on. It’s hilarious.”

And while some actors felt their departure from the show in very mentally taxing ways, Headey reveals that she feels nothing but joy. “It was amazing,” she says. “Things end and you move on.”
