CHICAGO (WXRT) – Musician Jeff Tweedy, frontman of Chicago’s Wilco and a recently published memoir author, is about to expand his professional résumé.

The 51-year-old Belleville, Illinois native has been cast in the new season of HBO’s discomforting comedy series, “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Variety reports. Tweedy, who is known for his dry sense of humor during concerts, has appeared on television shows like “Portlandia” and “Parks and Recreation” previously.

He’s also pals with “Curb Your Enthusiasm” co-star Jeff Garlin, Variety notes. “Curb” is the long-running creation of Larry David and follows David’s supposedly autobiographical – and excruciatingly awkward – adventures in Los Angeles.

Tweedy was a co-founder of Uncle Tupelo, with Jay Farrar, a band that was heavily influenced by folk and country. When it broke up, Tweedy founded Wilco in 1994. The increasingly experimental band, which has undergone lineup changes, has several albums. Through it all, Tweedy has been praised as one of the finest songwriters of his generation.

Tweedy released a solo album, “Warm," and an autobiography, "Let's Go (So We Can Get Back)," late last year.
