Rescue Dogs Get the Royal Treatment at Adorable Puppy Prom

By Audacy

Prom season is for the dogs, literally!

55 adopted pooches put on their royal best to celebrate the Helen Woodward Animal Center‘s 7th Annual Puppy Prom, according to People.

The San Diego animal rescue throws the event to honor all the dogs that have recently found homes with their new owners.

This year the theme was “A Furry Tale Ending” and the outfits were straight out of a storybook, with the adorable pups decked out in tiaras, rhinestones, capes and other types of regal gowns.

Along with the prerequisite prom photos, a puppy prom king and queen were crowned.

According to the rescue’s website, Sir Ruffles Von Vicious was named king for his El Rey de Encanto costume, while Bindi earned the crown for a Queen Bee look that was all the buzz.

And so as not to alienate cat lovers, the gala also takes time to honor the finicky felines who have moved on from the rescue with a kitty prom king and queen contest. Purrfect!

The celebration helps raise awareness about the importance of pet adoption and also allows the pups to reconnect with volunteers and other former orphan pals that have since moved on to their permanent owners.

One thing’s for sure, these canines know how to party.
