What You Need to Know About the 'Game of Thrones' Prequel

Remember that “Game of Thrones” prequel that HBO has been teasing for a while? Well, looks like it’s finally in the works. The team has begun filming in the familiar scenes of Northern Ireland.

The location is the same as many fan-favorite “Game of Thrones” scenes, with the geography of Westeros sprawling out behind the cameras. Local media outlet the Belfast Telegraph reports that shooting sites were being set up in various locations last week.

The title and further details of the show remain under wraps, but it will be set 1,000 years before the events that occur in the “Game of Thrones” fans know and love.

While fans are dying to know what becomes of their “Game of Thrones” favorites, the yet-untitled prequel series will explore the ancestors of the likes of the Lannisters, Daenerys Targaryen, and the beloved Stark family.

Speculation about the show has fans wondering if they’ll finally get answers to questions the original series raised. What’s the story with the Night King’s origins? How did the houses of Westeros come to power? Will fans see more from the original stories of George R.R. Martin?

There are no details yet about when the series will hit streaming services for proper bingeing.
